Editorial design for a 150–200 page annual literary and arts publication.

During my time at university, I served as the Layout Editor for Vortex Magazine, an annual 150–200 page publication featuring literature, poetry, photography, and artwork submitted by students. Working closely with the editorial team, I was responsible for developing the overall visual direction of each edition, beginning with the selected cover artwork and extending that theme throughout the publication.

I designed the magazine’s page layouts, typography, grid systems, section openers, and visual hierarchy to create a cohesive and engaging reading experience. The challenge was to balance a wide variety of written and visual content while maintaining consistency across hundreds of pages. Throughout the production process, I collaborated with editors to organize content, implement revisions, and ensure the final publication met both aesthetic and editorial goals. The completed magazine was distributed in both print and digital formats.
